  1. I am about half way through the book Neil Flambe and the Marco Polo murders and so far it has been great. I think i have liked it because it kind of a mystery novel but it is also hilarious, I also like it because it has very complex characters and instead of just telling you there name like some books it tells you about what they do and describe how they do it, An example of this is Chef Angel who was considered at one point to be the best chef in the world it also mentions how he has traveled all over the world and he know only cooks one dish a year trying to get it as close to perfect as he can. I you read the book you know who im talking about.

  2. I thought that this book was little weird, but really funny at the same time!!! The book was really a great book to read. It sometimes had really mystirous parts to the story, like in the INTOR. In the INTRO it told me a little bit of Marco Polos death. I really liked this book and think a lot a people shuold read it!!! So far this is my favorite book.

  6. I think the 'Neil Flambè and the Marco Polo Murders' was a better mystery books, because most mysteries go where the main character(s) find clues then solve the case, while in this one you find clues then all of the clues explode and don't make sense, and then you have to start again. This format made Mysteries much more interesting and fun to read.

  8. I liked this bok because it kept you guessing who the murderer was and what the poison was.I agree with Marcel about what he said about the characters and what kevin said about the clues. The book was really good but I thought the end was a let down.

  9. Even thought I havent completely read the book Neil Flambe and the Marco Polo murders,my opinion that it is awsome. Because it is book the kind of book that grabs the readers attention (being me) is . Just by the name this book based on what I read it has been a roller coaster on what pattern the "Murders" are happening has been. Neil a 15 or 14 year old has been helping the police with his amaising gift smelling the ingreadients and what they are. So that is the point I have gotten to in this book I will go back on when I finish. Jr grade six :)

  10. I realy loved reading Neil Flambé and the Marco Polo murders because it was so descriptive in every paragraph. For example:Neil spent a whole page talking about Isabella. Her hair and how she smelt what she looked like etc. I also really loved how Kevin Sylvester made me think that Angel was the killer but it turned out to be Carlotta Calamari and I thought her story in the book was just a small side story but it turns out you had to know her story, to understand why she murdered. The last thing I have to write is that I really want toread the whole Neil Flambé capers now that I have read the first book. This was by far my favourite book I have read in Silverbirch so far.- Paige

  12. So far this book is SO AWESOME!!! I love it, and it is so suspenseful I can't put it down!!!! I love the fact that Neil Flambe and all the other chefs, like Lionel Perch and such had food names!!!! Also, I like that Neil uses his nose to solve crimes, because I think it would be totally cool to be able to smell so well! I am only halfway into this book but I love it SOOOOOOO MUCH!!! 1O points for Neil Flambe! Aurora :)

  13. Just finished the book. So surprised about the culprit, because I had almost forgotten about her character, and I didn't know what she meant when she said that Neil ruined her life. Also, I like the fact that both Isabella and Neil wouldn't kill anyone, because even though Angel "accidentally" killed her father she couldn't bring herself to kill him, and just because the anonymous culprit (who shall remain anonymous for anonymous reasons), killed all his friends, he didn't want her to die after he poisoned her with a very anonymous substance which shall also remain anonymous. aurora

  14. I would just like to say that this book is amaising. The reason it was amaising is just the way the book is my favourite part was the end because at the end is when the action starts. When Carlotta was about to kill angel and issabela wanted to kill Angel but couldn't bring her self to do it and when Neil is chasing Carlotta and when near the end Neil put the poison is her mouth (however I think Carlotta was very diobolical) the most thing that really tied the book was when n
Neil got the menu with the chef lionel Sumia saffron Angel jicama. Here is a questions for you what inspired you to write this book. jr grade si

  22. I've just finished the book today and I thought that it was great because I liked how the author described how some of the characters looked like. I also liked the ending when there was more action, for example, like how Carlotta had shot Isabella in the head and escaped but later on got caught. I also was curious of who would be framing Neil because it could of have been anyone because Neil has lot's of enemies. It was also kind of neat of how Neil uses his nose to solve mysteries.

Also I wanted to know what inspired you to write this AWESOME BOOK!

  31. I loved reading the book ,"Neil Flambé and the Marco Polo Murders". I liked how most of the last names had to do with cooking or food. For example, Neil's last name is Flambé, which is a cooking procedure. Isabella's last name is Tortellini which is a type of pasta. Paul's last name is LeBoeuf which is beef in French. And so on. I also liked the illustrations. They looked very detailed in most of them. The story had a creative plot, because of how each clue was connected to the chefs that were murdered and Marco Polo's journey.

  32. I finished MARCO POLO MURDERS two days ago. it was very creative and the charactors were interesting, funny, and evil. And I liked because it had pictures in it which made quite creative. The only thing I don't like about the book is that there has to be murder in it, But the best part was that everyone lived happily ever after. (except for the bad guy and the dead chefs.

  33. This book was AWSOME!!!!!This book was funny, mysterious, and suspenseful, all at the same time! This book was funny because of Larrys humor, and Neils NON sense of humor. The mysteriousness comes from the murdering and the traces of cumin. Suspense happens because you always want to know who will get murdured next, and you'd want to know who the culprit is- this book keeps you bounceing from suspet to suspect!

  34. I really liked the presentation that Kevin Sylvester gave to us at our school. It was interesting because I was expecting him to be sort of boring like he would just advertising his book and that was all. But instead he did that interesting little cartoon lesson and he told us about the olypics.Over all he seemed like a pretty nice guy.-SARAH:)

  35. I enjoyed the Kevin Sylvester presentation a lot. I thought it was very facinating how he talked about all the different Olympic mess-ups and how people said that the Gold medal winner would be forgotten the most and the athelete that came in third would be remembered the most. I also loved learning about what inspired him to write his books and I am so glad we got to learn a little bit about his personal life like how is last name from his side of his family is the name of a type of food and that is what made him name all the characters in his book with a last name that is food. Example: Isabella Tortillini. And if the character did'nt have last name that was food it was a technique of how to cook food. Example: Neil Flambe. My favourite part of his presentation was when he talked about how anyone can be a great cartoonist you just had to let loose. I have been using his doodling technique a lot since he taught us about drawing. I cannot wait until Kevin Syvester comes back Monday.

  36. Although I haven't read the book, I'm looking forward to reading it after hearing Kevin Sylvester's presentation. I liked how he talked about perserverance and how all his books were connected. My favourite part of his visit was when he talked about the character Neil Flambe being a jerk and how he loved food since he was a little kid. KYANA:P

Also when there where two more and one was in first and stoped to pose. then the other on e whent ahed and won the race.Alex

  38. I really liked this book.I liked how Kevin Sylvester came and talked to use about his books and how all his books connect.I also liked how he toled use how we could draw a dragone with a ice cream cone and then add the details.Another was the adventure storie when four people go down a slope and two crash and there was one ahead and thought she could stop and pose. But then the other person when't and bumed the girl who was poseing and who had NEVER lost and she lost for the first time because she was sowing off. So the other person won because she when't slow and got there first and not crushed like the other three. What did you feel like when you were writing all the books? What does it feel like to be one of the best authers? Thankes for comeing and i can't waite till you come on Monday April 11 2011. Alex :)
